John Tyrant Patrick (1852-1918) was a journalist and resort developer from Wadesboro, North Carolina. An astute businessman, Patrick attracted northerners to North Carolina by advertising inexpensive, fertile land in northern newspapers. In 1883, North Carolina Governor Thomas J.
